Pyramid chart & Funnel chart
Pyramid chart
A pyramid chart (also called a triangle chart) appears in the shape of a triangle divided into horizontal sections. Each section has a different size, and the height of each section indicates the level of hierarchy among each topic.
Use a pyramid chart to visualize your data hierarchically; each segment is displayed as a proportion of the total, from smallest to largest. In the example below, we see Total users by Age group. The top segment represents the group with the fewest quantities.
Funnel chart
A funnel chart is essentially an inverted form of the pyramid chart type so points display in the reverse order.
Funnel charts are often used to represent stages of a process and their performance, and has often been used to represent drop-offs or proportional quantities at each stage of a process.
Basic Set up
Data required:
- Legend (categorical data, e.g. Activity type)
- Y-Axis (numerical data, e.g. Sum of activity counts)
To create a Pyramid Chart, simply drag in the categorical variable into the Legend Field and the measure into the Y-axis field.
To build a Funnel chart, follow the same steps for building a Pyramid chart, making sure to select Funnel chart from the Visualization menu.
